Susan Pollexfen
Susan Mary Yeats (née Pollexfen) (13 July 1841-3 January 1900) of Sligo, Ireland,[1][2] was the wife of John Butler Yeats and the mother of William Butler Yeats, Jack Butler Yeats, Elizabeth Yeats and Lily Yeats.
She was born in 1841 to William Pollexfen (1811-1892) and his wife Elizabeth (née Middleton) (1819-1892).[3]
She married John Butler Yeats on 10 September 1863, at St.John's Church, Sligo. Susan Yeats was dismayed when her husband abandoned the study of law to become an artist.[4]
They had six children:
- William Butler (June 13, 1865 - January 28, 1939)
- Susan Mary (Lily) (August 25, 1866 - January 5, 1949)
- Elizabeth Corbet (Lolly)(March 11, 1868– January 16, 1940)
- Robert Corbet Yeats March 27, 1870- March 3, 1873
- Jack Butler (August 29, 1871 - March 28, 1957)
- Jane Grace Yeats (August 29, 1875 - June 6, 1876)
She died 3 January 1900 after a long illness.
